The most common form of vandalism is Graffiti and it’s not only contained in urban areas, suburbs are being affected as well. National Coating Solutions was contacted by our client to address their graffiti problem and provide a solution.
Every few weeks a couple of our client’s locations were being vandalized with graffiti and they were having a hard time stopping it as well as repairing any graffiti. A major deterrent to vandals is rapid removal usually within 48 hours. Studies show that addressing graffiti problems swiftly and decisively will result in a nearly 0% rate of reoccurrence!
National Coating Solutions created a three point action plan where the first step was, with the help of the store manager, to check the premises daily and if there was any vandalism to report it immediately. This ensured that we were able to respond, usually, within 24 hours. The second part of the action plan was to identify and document products being used so that a consistent product and color were being used each and every time. Since the tagged areas were all in dark out of site areas of the facilities, National Coating Solutions installed motion sensor lights and security cameras as another level of deterrent. This also gave our client a form of documenting and vandalism in hopes of future recourse.
SCOPE OF WORK:
1. Create a three point action plan to address the vandalism.
2. Apply graffiti non-sacrificial coating to areas of facilities being vandalized.
3. Remove any graffiti within 48 hours of vandalism.
4. Install motion sensor lights and security cameras to record acts of vandalism.
CHALLENGES:
1. Relying on cooperation of store manager.
2. Reacting to vandalism in a timely manner.
3. The properties were painted and what would be the best preventative method?
4. How can we deter, the vandals, even more than just swift reaction?
SOLUTIONS:
1. The manager was more than happy to take a few minutes each morning to walk the exterior and report any damage.
2. Knowing that a quick reaction was the key to correcting any damage, National Coating Solutions made sure that crews were readily available day or night to respond to any calls.
3. A fresh coat of paint was applied to the affected areas of the facility and a Non-Sacrificial coating was applied to protect the painted finish.
4. Motion sensor lights and security cameras were installed along with warning signs to deter, even further, the likelihood that vandals will be back.
